New Book Clubs

All,

Beginning in January, JPL will have two new Adult Book Clubs: Silent Book Club and Lunchtime Lit Book Club.

Erin will be facilitaitng Silent Book Club on the first Tuesday of every month beginning in Jan. Here’s the gist of it:
Shhhhh…it’s the JPL Silent Book Club.
A Silent Book Club is an event where people meet for an hour dedicated to reading quietly in community. Here’s how it works:
*6:30pm to 6:45pm: Grab coffee or tea and a treat and share what you’re reading
*6:45pm to 7:45pm: Enjoy an hour of quiet reading with the book of your choice
Come be alone together with other readers!

Lunchtime Lit will be facilitated by me on the third Thursday of every month beginning in January from noon to 1:00pm. This book club will meet here at JPL and will read the same books that Thursday Night Book Club does, but they will be two months behind in books.  People are welcome to bring their own lunch to this club if they like. They library will provide coffee, tea and treats. Books for the January discussion for Lunchtime LIt will be available for checkout this coming Thursday, December 15th. A printed schedule, like the one for well red and Thursday night book clubs will be ready next week as well.

Thanks! Ask beth if you have questions.

Thursday Night Book Club next week (October 13)

Hey all,

Next week is the normal time for the Thursday Night Book Club to meet. I will be in exotic Dubuqe for ILA and one of my book club members, Sue R. is going to facilitate discussion in my absence. I am going to direct book club members to come to the circulation desk Thursday night, October 13 to check out next month’s book, instead of me doing it for them.

Here’s what you need to know if you are working on October 13th in the evening:

The November book club book is Plainsong, by Kent Haruf. These books will be ready and waiting on the black cart for check out. Please give book club members an extended checkout date until the third Thursday of November. (The book will be due November 17th) and sigage on the black cart will remind you of this date.

Thanks so much for holding down the fort. Ask Beth if you have any questions.
