We’ve made some changes to how the public will use the Games and Internet PCs. The following changes are effective Monday, May 12:
- The Games PCs now require a library card or guest card. Children ages 5 through 14 may now obtain a Games Computers Only library card without parental signature. Please direct the child to the Circulation Desk to complete the new yellow application form.
- If a child is visiting friends or relatives and will not be visiting long enough or frequently enough to obtain a library card, you can sign the child on to one of the Games PCs as a guest: Patron: Games1 / PIN: 6700 or Patron: Games2 / PIN: 6700. Do not give the information to the child; type the information into the PC Reservation login screen yourself.
- Guest passes printed from PC Reservation are to be used only for patrons with Internet permission. A guest pass is valid on all public PCs. Therefore, it should not be given to Games Only users.
- The YS 1-5 and Stations 1-12 have now been combined into a single area which means that anyone who has Internet permission may use any of the 17 PCs. This area is now called Internet PCs.
- Each user has a total of 90 minutes of PC use per day. The Internet PC sessions are 90 minutes long, and they may be extended for people working on projects. The Games PC sessions are 30 minutes long. A Games PC user can log in multiple times until he has used all 90 minutes. Children with Internet permission have a total of 90 minutes across both areas. For example, a child could spend 20 minutes on a Games PC and 70 minutes of an Internet PC.
- I eliminated the step where users have to Accept the Internet Use Agreement. Once a patron enters his barcode/PIN, he is taken directly to the PC desktop.
