New items will have only one item barcode label
Our current supply of item barcodes is about at an end and starting this week, you will begin seeing items with only one barcode attached. Any item with a barcode number larger than IJOH0001710000 will have only a single barcode.
The location of barcodes on items will be as follows:
- Books and Magazines — in the upper right corner of the back cover, aligned with the spine of the book.
- DVDs, CD Books and Video Games — in the upper right corner of the front cover, aligned with the top of the cover.
- Music CDs — upper right corner of the back cover, aligned with the top of the cover. A typed barcode number will be on the back of the insert in the lower right corner.
- MMKs — upper right corner of disc case. A typed barcode number will be in the upper right hand corner of the book’s front cover.
- Puppets — barcode attached to label on bag.
An exciting new collection of items available this spring
I am assembling a collection of items related to exploring the world, tinkering with technology, fixing things, and creating music and art. These items will be stored in their cases behind the circ desk or in the staff area. Each item will have a vinyl sleeve on display on a pegboard next to the archive room. To checkout an item, patrons will present a sleeve at the circ. desk. The items will check out for one week. More information related to circulation procedures will be forthcoming. Meanwhile, to learn more about the items see the ring of vinyl sleeves on Dreama’s cart.

Shred Day 2015
Excited to say JPL will again have another Shred Day for the public on:
Saturday, April 18 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM
What is Shred Day?
A shredding company (InfoDog Security) will park a shredding truck in our parking lot. The truck is like one big shredder. It shreds all materials before leaving the location.
People drive up to the truck, and drop off items to be shredded. Everyone can watch their documents being shred. There is a camera inside the truck that feeds to a tv on the opposite side of the truck. If they want to watch, they will need to drop off their items, exit the line – so they don’t hold up the line – park their car and then come over to the truck and watch it. If they do not want to let the materials out of their sight, they need to first park their car and then carry the shredding over to the truck.
Staples and paperclips are okay. Binders, and those large clips are NOT okay.
There is NO charge for this service.
They can bring up 2 boxes per person.
Last year, we had over 100 people participaing in this event so expect a lot of questions.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks – Cheryl
2014 Taxes
We have received FORMS 1040, 1040A & 1040EZ. I hope to receive the reproducible copies by the end of February. The IRS will not be providing any other forms or instructions. Forms and instructions can be ordered online. There is a hand-out available to assist patrons.
Minecraft on Computer Lounge PCs
Minecraft is now installed on the six PCs in the Youth Computer Lounge. Users have the option of playing with others on the library’s minecraft server, which is installed on the Envisionware Console PC under the Youht Service desk, or on their own.
Public Printing Upgrade
Lori F.and I installed a new Print Release Station this morning. As we tested the new station, we found that it, like the old Print Release PC, was having problems with the Print Release software not refreshing to show new print jobs.
We installed a new version of the LPT:One software on all of the public PCs, the Management Console, and the Print Release station. According to the update release notes, this version is supposed to resolve the problem.
If you continue to have to restart the Print Release station in order to display print jobs, please let me know.
Thanks.

Door to Main Entrance
The outside door to the library’s main entrance is not working. Until the problem is resolved, the outside door should be turned to the “off” position while it is in the process of opening or closing in order to allow the door to remain open.
Summer reading t-shirts
Hi Everyone,
I placed our five options for summer reading t-shirts on the break room table. This year’s theme is Superheroes. Please take a moment to flip through your options and if you find one you desire, jot your name and size down on that shirt’s paper. I need your orders by next Friday, February 13th, please.
Thank you,
Missy
Timesheets are due!

New Public Phones
A cordless phone base has been added to our fax phone line at the reference desk. One handset will stay at reference and one at youth services. Please direct patrons wanting to make a call to one of these phones. They do NOT need to dial 9 before dialing a number.
Blind Date with a Book
Fellow match-makers,
The “Blind Date with a Book” display is up and ready to circulate. It is directly in front of the circ desk. “Back-up dates” are located on the bottom shelf just to the right of Circ 2…you can spot the snazzy red wrap. When the dating pool has diminshed patrons should turn to eHarmony.
Love,
Missy
Tech Lab Documents
Two new documents related to the Tech Lab are listed under the “Printables” menu (in the left column of the intranet). The “Guidelines” document spells out rules related to reserving and using the room. The “Software and Equipment” document (as you probably guessed) lists all equipment in the room and software on the iMac.
Tax Forms
The IRS is only offering forms 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ. I have received notice that the 1040A & 1040EZ were mailed on 1/23/15 and we can expect to receive them no later than 2/9/15. We hope to receive the reproducible packet as well. Until these items arrive, please direct patrons to the IRS website www.irs.gov.
