I will be out of the country with limited access to email and phone from August 28 – Sept 6.

Dreama is in charge while I am out. She will be the person to contact with escalated general library issues – escalated behavior, building maintenance, human resources issues, library bills, etc.). Her cell phone is 515-422-6791.

Mary Bush will be the main point of contact for escalated circulation questions – library charges (fines/replacement costs), accounts, and anything circulation-related. She has been promoted to Assistant Circulation Librarian. Her work email is bush@johnstonlibrary.com. If you need immediate assistance and Mary is not working, please remember that there are the Patron/Item needs assistance forms at the Circ Desk. Mary will follow up if you fill out one of those forms.

The time is finally here! YS, TS, and members of circulation have begun the re-labeling and categorizing of the picture book collection!

It has been a long term goal of mine to categorize picture books to make the collection more browsable and user friendly. After 4.5 years of waiting, the project has begun!

Many hours of research, discussions, and design went into this project and many more hours will go into this project to get the picture books categorized and re-labeled. I want to thank everyone for being a part of this project and open to the change that this will bring to so many of our processes.

During Phases 2 and 3, the Hot Picks collection is not available to patrons to browse. Therefore, we’re temporarily changing the collection to be Holdable so that patrons may place holds and pick them up curbside.

For now, Hot Picks books will check out for 3 weeks, be renewable, and be holdable just like other books. Hot Picks DVDs will check out for 1 week, be renewable, and be holdable just like other DVDs.

The labeling will remain unchanged.

We’ll return these circulation elements to their normal values when we reach Phase 4.

I’ve shared this with some of you, but wanted to get the word out to everyone. I purchased an Instant Pot and Cookbook for Lynne for her retirement. If you would like to chip in, great, if not that’s okay too! I will also be circulating a retirement card beginning on Tuesday. You are all invited to stop by the YS Workroom anytime between 9-5 on Thursday to bid her farewell.
