Shred Day

We had an AWESOME Shred Day event today at the library.

It is estimated there were almost 155-160 vehicles drive through with documents for shredding.

The team did a great job of managing the flow of traffic and materials, especially during the 2 heavy rain storms that passed through the area.

HATS off to Emily, Jack and Jim for their hard work!!  Smile

Free materials delivered to the Library should be routed to the work room

Just a reminder that all free materials delivered to the Library should be routed to the work room for proper handling.   This includes materials left outside the front door, put in the drop box or handed to a staff member at the desk.

Brochures or flyers for distrubition and items for posting on the public bulletin board should be placed in the In box on Dreama’s desk.   The Circulation Dept. will be responsible for maintaining brochures and postings on the bulletin board.

Any newspaper or magazine materials (Bulls Eye newspaper, Johnston Living Magazine, Better Investing Magazine, City View, Juice, Black and White, etc.) should be placed on Sheryl Start’s desk.

Please see Sheryl or Dreama if you have questions.

Dash for the Stash during Money Smart Week

Attached to the outer glass on the Archive room by the music collection are four large posters and one small poster.  Each of the large posters is about a different topic.  The small poster contains all the rules and directions.

This is a contest for Money Smart Week that JPL is participating in.  The prize = $1,000.00 (towards a retirement fund).

The small poster has all instructions that are needed for playing.  Essentially, here is what needs to happen to play:

1. Read through each of the four posters.

2. Scan the QR code located on the poster (or go to a public computer and enter web address given).

3. Leave your answer.

Let me know if you have any questions – Cheryl

Lost Tennis Bracelet

Rhonda Gooding was in Sunday for a meeting and believes she lost a sapphire tennis bracelet that has a lot of sentimental value to her. She is quite concerned about it.

If found, please call her at 515-334-0476.

Pre-Shelving Area Rearranged

The pre-shelving area in Check-In has been rearranged to add shelving, to make sorting carts easier, and to align more closely with how materials are shelved in Youth Services.  Please check the labels when putting materials on the shelves.

Thanks.

Teapot and teacups behind Circ

There is a teapot and three teacups and saucers behind Circulation. These have come from the collection of Max Wiese, our “tea aficionado,” who will be here on May 16th to put on our Everything Tea program. This teapot and teacups will be given away as door prizes to people who attend the tea program. Please pass the word along to patrons if they ask you about this small display behind circ.

Also–please don’t bump or break them–I don’t think Max would be very happy with me. 😉

Volunteer Brunch

Volunteer Brunch will be on Thursday, May 28 from 9:00AM to 10:00AM.  We will be putting this brunch on for our volunteers.  This means that we each need to bring a dish/drink/etc. to share at the brunch.  There is a sign up sheet on the staff break room door to sign up for what you wish to bring – so we don’t duplicate eachother.  I will still need help with decorating/rearranging the room and have added that to the sign up sheet.  If you have questions please let me know.

Thanks – Cheryl
