Maryann forwarded me the link to the ALA “trends” webpage she showed at yesterday’s meeting. I’ve included a link to that as well as our current strategic plan below.

Quiet in the Library: Working with Introverted Personalities
Scanning Documents from the New Printers
You have 3 options for scanning documents from the new Xerox printers:
- Scan to USB drive. This option works the same as it did before. Tap the Workflow Scanning icon to get started.
- Scan to e-mail. Tap the e-mail icon, choose an e-mail address, tap OK, and press Start.
- Scan to a network folder. On the server, there is a folder called Scans. I added this folder to your computers as the S: drive. Tap the Scan icon and press Start. The document will be saved to the S: drive using the default file name of Scan-[year][month][day]-[hour][minute][second].pdf. You have the option of renaming the file before you press Start.
New Staff Printers
The new staff printers (Xerox WorkCentre 7225 in the workroom; Xerox WorkCentre 6655 in Youth Services) have two separate printers for black & white and color. Instead of going to Printer Properties to uncheck the black & white option, you’ll choose the Color printer instead.
The existing Xerox 7225 printer that is installed on your PC will only print in black & white. Lori F. will be installing the color option on Tuesday.
You can now print to the new workroom printer
Thanks
Nonfiction and Biography DVDs and Blu-Rays: 2-Week Loan Period
Nonfiction and biography DVDs and Blu-Rays are now set to check out for 2 weeks. The TV genre also checks out for 2 weeks. All other genres (Act/Adv, Children, Family, Drama, etc.) continue to have a 1-week loan period. Fiction mini-series will be moving to the TV genre over the next few weeks.
2 Hour Staff Meeting This Thursday
This month’s all-staff meeting this Thursday will be held from 8am-10am. Maryann Mori from Iowa Library Services will conduct a strategic plan input session.
We will open, as usual, at 9am this day. If you’re scheduled to work a public desk, you’ll leave the meeting at 8:50 to open and start your regular work.
Selling Items on Library Property
Today a group of students setup a bake sale on library property. They said they had been told by a library staff member that they could sell items as long as it was outside the library. Groups cannot sell or solicit donations on library property (inside or outside) without permission from Eric. This is addressed in the Conduct in the Library Policy. Selling or fundraising is prohibited in the Meeting Rooms per the Meeting Room Policy. Please see Eric or Molly with questions.
Printer Installation / Downtime on Monday
We are having two new printers installed late Monday morning. Expect public and staff printing to be down for a time. If you absolutely need to print during the installation, send your job to the printer on the Tech Services counter: HP LaserJet Professional P1606dn
Boxes in book drop room
When Janene was in yesterday (Wednesday 5/18) to volunteer in the book drop room she noticed her stock pile of boxes. She feels she has plenty at this time, so there is no need to save any boxes for her until further notice. Thank you!
New Adult Paperbacks
The adult paperbacks (PB AUT) will be joining the New Arrivals. Starting today, Technical Services will add the Shelf Location “New” to the mass market paperbacks we catalog.
Free Lunch Again This Summer On West Patio
Beginning June 6th, an organization called “Lunch Bunch” will serve free lunches to kids each weekday at 11:30 on the west patio. The organizers will be responsible for setup and cleanup.

Timesheets due Thursday, May 12 at 8 pm
The week got away from me; sorry I didn’t post this earlier. Please make sure that your completed and signed timesheets and PARs are in the green folder by 8 pm on Thursday evening, May 12.
Note: if your timesheet is not in the green folder when I starting working on them, I will pull it from your mailbox and complete it based on WTW. I don’t like signing on your behalf, but I’ll do it to make sure you get paid. If possible, always sign your timesheet when you first get it. If your hours change after I’ve worked on timesheets, please send your supervisor and me an email so that we can make sure it is corrected before Eric takes it to City Hall.
Thanks!
Peg

The west patio umbrellas have arrived. They don’t need to be raised each morning but closing staff should make sure they’re lowered each evening.
