PCs – Carpeting Week 1 [UPDATED]
UPDATE: 4 additional PCS added near adult music CDs (see updated image below)
Today, I moved three PCs (10, 11, 13) into Study Room 2 to create a temporary computer lab—the door should be kept open.
PC 9 has been moved into Study Room 4.
The only remaining PCs that are currently inactive are the Youth Computer Lounge PCs and YS 7.
The movers suggested that it may be Tuesday or Wednesday of next week before we’re able to move all of the adult PCs back home.
The image below shows all of the public PCs currently available. All are on the west/adult half of the building
Moving boxes
The moving boxes for staff to pack up items in preparation for recarpeting are on the counter behind the checkout desk.
Carpet Snafu
The carpet installer mistakenly ordered blue and green accent colors for the Youth Services area that were shown in an early draft of the carpet plan. These will be installed but will be replaced with the seafoam accents whenever they arrive.
Desk Stats
If you help a patron choose a book, use an online resource, use a computer, print a document, or answer a reference question, please remember to track the interaction via the overlay in the bottom right corner of the JPL Intranet.
Please take a look at the “help” document accessible via the red link above the top right corner of the overlay if you have questions.
Jeans Weeks
Just a reminder that today through 2/25 are jeans days.
Take Photos for the JPL Archives!
During the carpet installation — and, really, any other time you see something interesting happening — please take photos so that we can keep a visual record of JPL through the years.
You can send Abbi your photos or you can copy them to P:\Images JPL\New Carpet 2018.
I — and future generations of JPL staff — thank you!
Staff PCs in Public Areas
During the carpet installation, some staff PCs will be moved to public areas like study rooms. Please be mindful of PC security so that unauthorized people do not gain access to our staff network.
- Lock the doors to the study room when they are unattended
- Log off or lock your computer so that a password is needed to gain access
Thank you!
