Because Polaris does not currently display the New Shelf Location when items are scanned for in-house use, we are going to resume using color dots to designate ‘New’ children’s items for the Youth Services area. Please shelve any Juvenile items with a red dot on their designated ‘New’ shelves and do not remove any color dots from Juvenile materials. Youth Services staff will be responsible for removing items and dots from the YS New shelves.
We will continue to rely on the New Shelf Location for Adult and YA materials. If you question whether an adult or YA book should be returned to the ‘New arrivals’ section, just scan the barcode as a regular check-in and verify the shelf location. Checking in an item multiple times creates no problem.
